We wanted to provide a quick clarification regarding our message of yesterday evening with respect to mask wearing in the Douglas County School District (DCSD). Update: Mask Wearing and Quarantines
10/09/2021
On Friday afternoon the newly formed Douglas County Board of Health voted to enact a Public Health Order regarding masking and quarantines related to COVID-19. This Order allows individuals, in certain circumstances, to request exemption from wearing a mask within Douglas County (for themselves and/or their minor children). It also places limits on requiring individuals to quarantine if exposed to a known COVID-19 positive case. We continue to review this Order and analyze its potential impact on our students, staff, and community. We are also in discussions with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to determine who will provide communicable disease mitigation services to our community and school district moving forward.

Update on DCSD Universal Mask Requirement
10/01/2021
It has been wonderful visiting our schools over the past couple of months and seeing our students and staff engaged in learning and participating in activities such as recent homecoming events. Yesterday afternoon, the newly formed Douglas County Health Department governing board met and resolved that Douglas County is no longer under a Public Health Order requiring mask wearing in school and child care settings. However, the Douglas County School District will continue to require the wearing of facial coverings inside all school buildings (including neighborhood, magnet, and charter schools) for all students, staff and visitors regardless of vaccination status.

Mask Compliance for Visitors in Schools
09/07/2021
I hope you all had an enjoyable and relaxing Labor Day weekend. As you know, last Wednesday the Tri-County Health Department implemented a new Public Health Order requiring facial coverings to be worn by all individuals age 2 years and older, regardless of vaccination status, in all school and child care settings. I want to thank our families, especially those of our 7th-12th graders who made the quick transition to mask-wearing last week.
