The Compliance office shall be responsible for conducting investigations and coordinating all complaint procedures and processes for any alleged violation of federal or state statute or Board policy prohibiting unlawful discrimination or harassment. What is Title IX?
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination and harassment on the basis of sex, stating that:
“No person in the U.S. shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” 20 U.S.C. Sec. 1681(a).
The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) enforces Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.

Non-discrimination of Students:
The Board of Education is committed to the policy that no otherwise qualified student shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any District program or activity on the basis of disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression or gender identity, national origin, religion, or ancestry. See DCSD Policy JBA.
Non-discrimination of Employees:
Commitment on the part of the district towards equal employment opportunity shall apply to all people without regard to race, color, national origin, ancestry, creed, religion, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender expression or gender identity, disability, age, genetic information, or conditions related to pregnancy or childbirth. Who can contact the Compliance Office?
All reports received by teachers, counselors, principals or other district employees shall be promptly forwarded to the Compliance Officer.
How do I file a complaint of discrimination?
You may submit a complaint by contacting the Compliance Office. Additionally, the Office can be contacted by filing out the Statement of Concern.
