Michelle (MJ) Jones, U.S. Navy

MJ, (seen here on the left with her twin sister who served in the U.S. Army), served 11 years in the U.S. Navy as a Farsi linguist. MJ moved to Colorado in 2015 and pursued her lifelong passion of art at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, where she graduated with honors in 2018. MJ taught middle school art in Denver Public Schools from 2018-2020. MJ joined the DCSD team this year as the middle school art teacher at Cimarron Middle School.

Sgt. Maj. (Ret.) Carey Smith, U.S. Army

Carey Smith served in the United States Army Special Operations Command for 30 years and retired as a Sergeant Major. He is now a Gifted Education Facilitator at Sierra Middle School and Chaparral High School.

Archie Boatright, U.S. Army

Archie Boatright served in US Army as a Fire Indirect Support Specialist (13-F, Forward Observer) from 1989-1994. Archie's duty assignments were Fort Jackson, Fort Gordon, Fort Sill, Germany, and Fort Hood. After his time in the service, Mr. Boatright worked with the Federal Bureau of Prisons until he was medically retired in 2011. Archie then started his career with DCSD in Transportation in March of 2015 and, later that year, began his career with Accounts Payable/Business Services where he remains today.

Gunnery Sgt. (Ret.) Malcolm Linehan, U.S. Navy

Gunnery Sgt. (Ret.) Malcolm Linehan joined the U.S. Navy in 1971 as a Gunner's Mate, and served his country aboard the USS Midway, the USS Kitty Hawk, the USS Capodanno, and the USS Bowen. During this time, Malcolm also served in Vietnam. Malcolm then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1981 as a Towed Artillery Systems Technician and later served as a Light Armored Vehicle Technician. Malcolm retired with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in 1992 after 21 years of service to our country. We are now proud to call Malcolm a part of the Douglas County School District team, where he serves our students as a bus driver!

Kelly DeVol, U.S. Air Force

Kelly DeVol served in the United States Air Force for seven years. Born in Okinawa, Japan, Kelly grew up on Air Force bases across the globe as the daughter of a U.S. Airman. Kelly supported the Budget Office & Comptroller at Aviano Air Base, Italy and served with the Communications Squadron in Great Falls, MT as an Administrative Assistant. Kelly is still finding ways to serve her community in her 24th year with the Douglas County School District. She began her career in public education working as a Kitchen Manager at Cherry Valley Elementary, and now supports DCSD Superintendent Corey Wise as his Administrative Assistant.
