Dear DCSD Families,

I hope you are having a great week! I have truly enjoyed visiting with so many of our staff throughout our school district. Over the last few weeks, I have visited over 40 schools, many of our DCSD worksites, and one of our transportation terminals. I have met one-on-one with approximately 120 school and district leaders, engaged with our board committees and other community groups, been in countless classrooms, and had numerous conversations with hundreds of our amazing DCSD teachers and staff. It has been wonderful to see the incredible work our educators and staff do to engage our students in learning, and to hear them speak about the work they do with so much passion and pride. I have also appreciated the honest dialog and being provided a chance to listen and find a place of understanding related to staff concerns.

Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership
A couple of weeks back I shared with you our new organizational structure. Since then we’ve been working diligently to post and fill the open positions related to that structure. I am so incredibly happy to announce that Danny Winsor has accepted the position of Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership. We will begin transitioning Danny to this new role effective immediately, and will keep you updated on our plans to fill his previous position of Executive Director of Schools (EDOS) for the Parker Region. Danny is a 20-year educator and has been part of our DCSD family for 13 years. He has held the roles of Director of Choice Programming, high school and middle school principal, assistant principal, school counselor, teacher, and coach. Danny and I have worked closely together for many years and I am confident that his leadership, commitment to academic success, and student-centered decision making will be very beneficial to every one of our schools and students. I hope you will join me in congratulating Danny on his new role!

I am incredibly proud of our schools and the work that our staff do for our 64,000 students. I am committed to continuing to work through key issues to ensure DCSD is the best place to learn and work in Colorado.

Sincerely,

Erin Kane
Superintendent
Douglas County School District
