DCSD High School eLearning Start Date Delayed

DCSD High School eLearning Start Date Delayed
Posted on 08/21/2020
Dear DCSD High School eLearning Families,

Thank you to those of you who were able to attend our virtual parent orientations this week. If you were unable to attend, we have posted the presentation and recording on the Douglas County School District eLearning Hub at www.dcsdk12.org/eLearning. I encourage you to bookmark this page as it is regularly updated with helpful information for our eLearning families.

As we shared during the high school level orientations, our team has been working diligently to properly schedule our high school eLearning students. Getting our eLearning platform up and running in a short period of time has been challenging, but even more so at the high school level. We want our high school students, especially our seniors, to have access to the electives, Advanced Placement courses, etc. that they need to complete their four-year graduation plan.

As a result, we have decided to delay the first day of school for our high school eLearning students by one week. The first day of school for high school eLearners will now be Monday, August 31. This will give us the additional time needed to complete hiring and scheduling processes for our high school eLearning students.

eLearning for our elementary and middle level students and staff will begin as scheduled on Monday, August 24. We are in the process of notifying elementary and middle school families of their schedule, teachers, and how to access their first virtual morning meeting.

We recognize this delay may be frustrating, but we are committed to ensuring our high school eLearners have the best teachers possible, combined with access to the courses they need to stay on track. Thank you for your ongoing patience and support. We look forward to having your student(s) in DCSD’s eLearning option!

Sincerely,

Diane Smith
