Conor McCue, a Rock Canyon High School alum, came full circle, returning to Colorado after working in several television markets.
After graduating from Rock Canyon in Highlands Ranch in 2010, Conor McCue attended CU Boulder and graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism. Soon after, he embarked on a television career. As a television reporter, he’s worked throughout the count
ry. Conor landed his first job in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and then moved to Lexington, Kentucky. His next move brought him home to Colorado, where he’s been with CBS4 Denver since 2019.
“I'm incredibly proud to have made it back to Colorado because I love telling the stories of my home state. It means so much more when you highlight an issue, uncover a problem, or even profile an interesting or influential person in the community you grew up in,” said Conor.
Conor has fond memoriesof Rock Canyon. “I had so many incredible teachers, some of whom I still stay in touch with. I'll always be thankful for their time, interest, and guidance throughout my years in Douglas County,” he said. In high school, Conor learned he had a lot of people on his side who would support him with whatever interests he chose to pursue. Conor’s teachers were a huge part of that. Many of them guided him in the classroom and also got to know him outside of it. And for that, he’s incredibly thankful and lucky.
Conor’s advice to teens is, “Be confident in yourself and branch out. Try a class with an unfamiliar subject, try out for a new sport, or join a club you normally wouldn't. You're capable of much more than you think,” he said.
What skill is Conor working on? “I'm trying to be the best journalist and storyteller I can be because I believe good journalists are so necessary for every community.”
What does the future hold for him? “For now, I'm very happy living in Colorado and covering the stories most important to my community. After that, we'll see what the future holds!”
