Girl Scouts Collect 100+ Boxes of Cookies for DCSD Bus Drivers

During their annual cookie drive, Junior Girl Scout Troop 66872 collected 124 boxes of cookies for their local hometown heroes, Douglas County School District (DCSD) bus drivers! Community members purchased the cookies to donate to the drivers.

Each year the troop designates their hometown heroes. In the last couple of years, the troop chose nurses and doctors at a local urgent care. This year, the troop wanted to thank and recognize bus drivers for all they do to get students safely to and from school.

“We had numerous people who didn’t want to buy cookies for themselves, but wanted to donate a box or more to our hometown heroes,” said troop co-leader Stacy Kupzyk.

Collecting that many boxes of cookies was a big lift for Cookie Manager Christy Treece and co-leader and DCSD employee Heather Zwickl.

Hats off to the members of Junior Troop 66872 who all played a role in collecting the donated boxes of cookies!

Bob Buch, East Transportation Terminal Manager, said the cookies will be shared with the drivers at the other two DCSD bus terminals in Castle Rock and Highlands Ranch. What a delicious treat!

NOTICE OF DESTRUCTION OF SPECIAL EDUCATION RECORDS

Special Education records which have been collected by Douglas County School District related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of special education in the district, must be maintained under state and federal laws for the period of five (5) years after special education services have ended for the student. Special education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, or completes his/her educational program at age 21, or moves from the district. This notification is to inform parents/guardians and former students of Douglas County School District's intent to destroy the special education records of students who exited special education services as of June 30, 2016. These records will be destroyed in accordance with state law unless the parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student notifies the school district otherwise. After five years, the records are no longer useful to the district, but may be useful to the parent/guardian or former student in applying for social security benefits, rehabilitation services, college entrance, etc. The parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student may request a copy of the records by requesting the records at this link ( Douglas County School District Transcripts and Records Requests ).
