Several DCSD high schools are being recognized for their AP (Advanced Placement) programs, being named to the new AP School Honor Roll. Schools can earn this prestigious recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness. 

The AP Program allows students to pursue college-level courses while still in high school. These classes culminate in corresponding AP Exams that are administered once per year. New this year, the AP Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. For a school to be on the Honor Roll, it must meet certain criteria for students in the most recent graduating class: 40% or more took at least 1 AP Exam during high school, 25% or more scored a 3 or higher on at least 1 AP Exam during high school, and 2% or more took 5 or more AP Exams during high school (with at least 1 of those taken in ninth- or tenth-grade).
